ABOUT CLYDE FEDERAL

Michael Lyons writes songs, sings them, and plays guitar. His magnetic stage presence attracts and repels.

In 2002 Mike Bulington (drums) Vince Laconte (bass) and Jeremy Morse (autoharp) joined and the quartet quickly recorded the Please Be Real EP in one weekend and printed up a bunch. "Please Be Real" is the song they will bury us with.

In 2003 the single "Cleared A Little Space" got some attention but a fancy studio album never materialized. Instead the band developed a heavier, bouncier live sound and knocked out the Sensitive Skin EP in another weekend.

In 2004 Lyons compiled the 51-minute Best Practices from years of home recordings and live performances, and the story of Clyde Federal could finally be told. The Contraphonic label officially released Sensitive Skin and Please Be Real together as a double EP (or an album with two sides on separate CDs if you prefer to think of it that way.) Joe Cannon (guitar) and Mike Renaud (bass) joined the band and recorded the Piecework EP for the Tight Ship label and Laconte and Morse rode off into the sunset.

It wasn't weird at all.

In 2005 Clyde Federal will travel the world and begin work on three albums -- Disingenue, Arizona and Caucasia.
